Cancellations and Transportation

Cancellations and Transportation

Thanks to parents, students, and staff we are always learning!

Regina Public Schools has had to, on several occasions, cancel all student transportation because of dangerous, icy conditions on residential streets. We would like to thank all parents, students, school families and, of course, school staff for working through that inconvenience and interruption to daily routines.

We’ve heard from a number of parents, students, staff and partners about what we have done right and what we could do better. We appreciate and welcome all your comments, observations and suggestions!

A number of things to keep in mind:

Severe Weather and the Student

Severe Weather and the Student

Severe weather is a way of life in Saskatchewan. In Regina, it gets cold in the winter. There are severe weather conditions that include snow, ice, blizzards and windchill  that we have come to expect.

NEW. Read this article about what to expect and how to provide feedback.

Going to school is also a way of life for our students and staff, regardless of the weather. Very rarely are Regina Public schools closed during a regular school day. Even in a blizzard! School buses and transportation similarly will run in most temperatures.

Family and Community Engagement

Community never stays the same; it is constantly changing and evolving, and because of this, we recognize that many of our families are also constantly changing and evolving. Family and community engagement equals belonging, understanding, education and strength.

Thursday, November 22nd was a very special evening at École Elsie Mironuck Community School. In collaboration with over 15 community agencies, the school staff hosted 175 people (40 families) and community members at a Community Engagement Night to support and promote the wonderful services that families can access throughout our city and community.
