Today we raised the Treaty 4 Flag! We were honoured to have so many amazing guests, Elders, Knowledge Keepers and students from First Nations University to help our student learn about the land through Treaty Centers. Students spent the day outside playing games and learning about the Indigenous ways of connecting with the land.
Our day started at 7:30am with Staff raising a tipi at the front of the school. Then, the staff participated in a traditional Pipe Ceremony to bless the raising of the Treaty 4 Flag and for the new Land Based Program that was being kicked off today.
At 9:15am, the official ceremony was live broadcast to the community and then at 10:00am the centers began.
Thank you to Mme Garner, M. Wisniewski, Mr. Cappo and all the other amazing people who helped to make this day the success that it was.
